About Poligags

Our mission is to encourage people to think about political and social issues... through humor!

Originally founded in San Diego in 1987, Poligags dished out political satire through a variety of visual media and served the labor and non-profit communities by printing custom designs on t-shirts. We were proud members of our graphic arts local.

Our designs have been exhibited at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art and the State of Illinois Center. They have also been displayed in area libraries.

Fast forward to today, and we're back with new technology, full-color printing and nearly all-new designs. Our shirts are American-made from American-grown cotton (union-made available, too) and printed by American workers.

Poligags FAQs

Why do you only sell American-made shirts?
Because it allows American cotton farmers to stay in business. It allows the few remaining American textile companies to stay open and hire people. It helps American t-shirt printers and even postal workers to keep their jobs. And when Americans work, they pay into the system that provides us with all that "free stuff" from roads to health care that you've heard so much about.

What brands of shirts do you use?
Those listed as "American-made cotton" are supplied most often by Delta. Those listed as "union-made" are from a company called Union Made whose garment workers are members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

What printing process do you use and is it going to come out the first time I wash the shirt?
We most often use direct-to-garment (DTG) printing. It is recommended that you turn it inside out and use the "cool" setting to wash. This process then resists peeling like transfers or cracking like plastisol (silkscreening). The union printers are members of the Allied Printing Trades Council.

Your products almost all have a liberal bias. What's up with that?

Facts have a "liberal bias"! Seriously, though, we're lefties, and we don't feel the need to be "fair and balanced". If you're looking for right-ward leaning humor, you won't find much that you like here.

So if my custom order doesn't agree with your point of view, can I trust you to print it?
Your right to express your opinion is as valid as ours! We'll still handle your order as carefully and thoughtfully as if you agreed with us!
If your message or design contains hate speech, advocates taking rights away from others, promotes carbon-based energy, GMO foods or other non-sustainable practices, we reserve the right to decline your business and your money.

How do I place an order?
If you are a retail customer and like something you see on this website, you may order through the site or go to shop.poligags.com from any browser. Online, you may pay for your purchase securely either with your PayPal account (the big, colorful oval) or with a credit card option through the "checkout" box (the tiny, gray rectangle above the PayPal button).

If you are interested in having your own design printed, contact us at custom@poligags.com to receive a quote. We have a wide range of options to fit your taste and budget.

And then you're going to data mine all of my personal information, right?
Absolutely not. All orders are processed through PayPal secure check-out. We will never see or have access to your personal data.

You can either pay through your PayPal account if you have one or they will process your credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express). Please note that PayPal will not process pre-paid cards. See also "How Do I Place An Order?" above.

Do you offer discounts?
We will regularly run specials. If you start an account with us, we will let you know about them using the email address you give us. We will also send out notices through our Facebook page and Twitter feed. Watch for the coupon codes and remember to enter them in the space provided on your order form.

What if I represent a non-profit or a labor union or am a wholesaler?
We're "softies" when it comes to a good cause! Just send us an email at support@poligags.com. We're sure we can work out an arrangement that will benefit us both!

Is Poligags a union shop?
We are employing tradesmen who do have union status.

Once I place an order, how long do es it take?

We operate on a "just in time" basis, which means we produce items as they're ordered and don't have ready-made inventory sitting in a warehouse. We're not a sweat shop, either, so it will generally take us about a week to get orders to the US Post Office.

What shipping rates do you charge?
For orders up to $40.00, the rate is $5.00
For orders $40.01-$80.00, it's $7.50
For orders $80.01+, the rate is $9.00

And if I have an issue with my order?
